Pousada La Villa Caraíva

Located close to the river and the main square, you will also have the possibility to enjoy delicious typical Brazilian food options and experience a unique atmosphere. 

Did you know that Caraíva is located at the northern gateway to the Monte Pascoal National park (definitely worth a visit) and the Pataxó Indian tribe? Around 500 Pataxós live in a small village called Barra Velha. Not only the art of manufacturing flour is preserved and is still followed in the original way,  but also their handmade crafts are worth looking at. The handcrafts, e.g. necklaces, bracelets, bowls, utensils made out of wood represent their culture and beliefs. In general, we from Secret Places can only recommend you to get in touch with the unique culture of the Pataxós, as it is one of the most unique experiences you can have when visiting the Pousada la Villa and Caraíva.  The colorful feathers and wooden birds are great souvenirs to bring back home, as they are not only a great reminder of the place, but also of the whole trip you have experienced.
